Gemcare's Radience 2000 is by far the best precious metal cleaner and polish I have come across. I am the jeweler for a charity thrift store and we get a lot of silver and some gold jewelry as well. Most of it is tarnished and needs cleaning. This product makes most of the pieces shine like new. I also use it on some of the better costume jewelry. Definitely helps to sell our merchandise.

I really like this jewelry cleaner. My ring looks just like it did when we bought it.

This polish is great stuff. I first bought it at a home and flower show in Cleveland.

my husband is a geologist..Im interested in Petrology ...He is also and Astronomer and has made his own lenses....He liked them so much that he has taken ownership....might have to order another one for me the price is a bargain for the quality.

Owning this reasonably priced tool is like having a powerful microscope in your pocket. Ideal for mushroom foragers as well as jewelers & anyone else who's interested in the fascinating beauty & complexity of the things around us, even those we see every day & too often take for granted. For mushroom foragers this considerably facilitates identification of gourmet & hallucinogenic species that often have toxic look-alikes. It's a perfect gift for kids who are curious about the world around them & like to examine the details of plants, flowers, foods, fabrics, etc., etc.

I like it! The loupe, that is. It's a new experience seeing things that close. Really close. It took me a little to get used to using the loupe; i didn't know i had to practically stick my eye into the loupe to see what i wanted to see. And getting the light right for lighting up the surface of what i was looking at was a challenge, too. This is because i didn't know what i was doing, and had to learn as i played with it. It didn't take long to get used to using it. It seems adequate for what i want to use it for - checking out jewelry. But would also make some strange looking bugs even stranger, up close, and maybe too personal. Good value for the money; i have no regrets!

This is a great little loupe. I use it all the time and not only just for jewelry. Very compact and easy to carry.

An excellent survey of the major European watch manufactures and designers. The graphics are excellent. Very little discussion or writeups on the Asian manufacturers. As someone new to watch collecting I found it fascinating and well worth the modest cost. I loved looking at million dollar watches but I would also like to see writeups and comments on watches costing less than one thousand dollars. I will definitely buy next years edition. Amazon's service was excellent as we have come to expect.

As a lover of Horology, I have bought many magazines, books & periodicals over the years. I believe "Wristwatch Annual" is one of the tomes' that has all the pertinent information one could desire with regard to any specific watch or Manufacture. I have been buying "Wristwatch Annual" for about 8 years now, and this edition does not disappoint.

Reviewer "Peace Monger" complains that there is no mention or representation of Grand Seiko in this issue so let me point out two facts. Number one, Grand Seiko watches are not available from dealers in the United States, I believe they are only available in the domestic Japanes market. Sure it might be nice to see them in this edition but his gripe is unwarranted since Wristwatch Annual is predominantly targeted to a U.S. readership (and perhaps the U.K.). Look at the dealer ads and service centers mentioned, they are all US based. Second point is that this is the first edition of Wristwatch Annual that has (ever) had a Seiko section. So, at least the brand is represented in this edition. I checked my annual editions bavk to the 1999 edition to verify this. I think this 2010 edition is a great book. Certainly an improvement over the 2008 edition which tried to cram too many watches (eight) on each page versus the six per page in this, and last year's 2009 edition. However, the pictures are still a tiny bit smaller than the pre 2008 (2007 and backwards) editions. Nevertheless, the pictures are nice, the individual watch descriptions informative and many new models are represented in this new 2010 edition. If you are at all interested in high quality Swiss and German manufactured watches, you must purchase this eagerly anticipated yearly book!

I have been purchasing Wristwatch Annual for several years now. Although it is not completely comprehensive, it usually has information on new and limited edition models, which are of the most interest to me. Unfortunately, this year's publication shows mostly regular models that are not very different from the year before. We only get a glimpse of the new or limited edition in a photo in the company profile section. Furthermore, while it has a bit of information on Seiko, it has none on Grand Seiko, which is as Lexus is to Totyoa. Overall, the content is just not as good as before.

Great book. I use it all the time. I wish the price would have been this low when I purchased it! :-)

This remarkable book has something for metalworkers at every level. A the low end, it includes cold-worked techniques that require little in the way of tools, such as engraving. Even a beginner, with just a few gravers, can create interesting and decorative results, given the basics that McGrath presents here. Other techniques require more advanced skills, such as fluency in soldering and ability to harden custom steel tools. Yet others require more expensive tools, like an enameling kiln, rolling mill, or hydraulic press. Although all of the techniques are within reach of a well-equipped amateur studio, professionals will find plenty of ideas, too. McGrath follows a common pattern for each technique: a few pages of how-to, another few pages showing variations on the theme, and a brief but mouth-watering gallery of finished pieces, a total of six to ten pages. Numerous photos demonstrate the techniques and record the results, giving visual learners plenty to work with. Even with the number of different techniques and variations shown here, one can always ask for more. McGrath shows some applique techniques (including granulation), but skips others - cutouts and twisted wire, for example, offer possibilities that never get explicit mention. Mokume gane's magical surfaces never appear, either. The etching section could use a little more, as well. McGrath doesn't say much about the special precautions required for the most aggressive acids, skips over the gentler etchants (like ferric chloride) that work well on copper, and never mentions mordants for metals like steel or aluminum. This isn't a beginner's book, though. The intended reader already knows basic tool and safety procedures, and knows where to look to find additional depth regarding each technique. Instead of a self-contained textbook, this should be treated as a starting point - and a beautiful one, that leaves the crafter eager and full of ideas. -- wiredweird

This is a book for those wanting to see how metal reacts to various applications --- which are covered in some detail for the metal artist to try some of the procedues on their own. I was truly amazed by how simple variations for the process of Patination and Oxidation could produce such a varied coloration or patterns upon various substrates (metal). Who knew that by mixing ammonium chloride with tobacco will produce such an interested moss-evergreen color variation upon copper. Thus this book served as a great learning tool for me and allowed me to work metal without waste (particularly due to the cost of some metal these days) as the examples provided in the book gave me the confidence to move forward with my own designs. Each section is followed by wonderful gallery examples by numerous artists using the techniques described. Great ideas can be developed by reviewing the metal finishing techniques and observing the gallery examples. More info on how to actually do each technique would have also been helpful, but there is enough to enable every metal artist with significant knowledge of metal to move forward and proceed on some of the finishes described and maybe not fleshed out in the beginning of the section. So classify this book for intermediate or advanced metalsmiths...beginners can review this book, but please gain enough enough knowledge (at least for some processes) to aid in becoming bold enough to proceed. Some techniques are easy enough for beginners - the stamping, rolling-mill, polishing/matt/satin, press forming, and engraving. The other techniques - etching, patination/oxidation, casting, foil, granulation, enameling inlay, and chasing/repousse - are appropriate for those with more experience either through instruction, other book information, chemistry knowledge, and other methodologies. However, I could only give it 4 stars since one of the most important issues was not covered in significant detail - safety. One page devoted to the subject (page 8) is NOT enough, particularly since some of the techniques are dangerous or at least require controlled conditions with appropriate protective covering of hands/eyes/clothing with stabilizing materials available in case of an accident (e.g. spilling chemicals). This is a great book to envision the possibilities when working with metals and producing your own jewelry or fine art; and the price makes it an easy addition to your reference library.

I have lots of jewelry books. This is more of "class examples" and the like. It shows many ways to do textures, finishes, etc. and shows the finished product. It has saved me the time and expense of doing them myself. What a help!

I found this book well structured for me as a novice. It provides lots of beautiful examples of the techniques. I'll look for more detailed "how to" instructions elsewhere but this book is a great start.
